Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014 — Those interested in running for office in the Nov. 4 statewide general election have until the close of business Friday, Aug. 8 to file all necessary paperwork. Candidates have until 5 p.m. to complete their candidate filing with the Lassen County Clerk’s Elections Division at the Historic Courthouse, 220 S. Lassen St., Susanville. The deadline applies to local jurisdictions that intend to place a measure on the November ballot.
The law provides candidates with a 26-day window in which to file necessary paperwork. To date, numerous candidates have filed to run for local offices in the 15 school districts, and 20 special districts holding a November election in Lassen County. The complete Roster of Candidates is posted online and updated every evening. To view the roster, go to select “Local Candidate List” from lassencounty.org/govt/dept/county_clerk/registrar/Elections.asp.
If an eligible incumbent for an office does not qualify as a candidate by the close of business Aug. 8, the candidate filing period will be extended another five calendar days and will end at the close of business Wednesday, Aug. 13. The eligible incumbent will not be able to file during the extended candidate filing period.
