City ponders regulating medical marijuana cultivation

Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014 — Medical marijuana growers within the city of Susanville will soon have to comply with a new city ordinance.

At its Wednesday, Aug. 6 meeting, the Susanville City Council introduced and waived the first reading of a new city ordinance regulating where medical marijuana can be grown within the city limits. Violation of the ordinance will be a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000 and imprisonment not to exceed one year.

But Mayor Rod DeBoer asked the council to table the matter due to the absence of two councilmembers — Brian Wilson and Nicholas McBride. The issue will return at the council’s Wednesday, Aug. 20 meeting.

Susanville’s Police Chief Tom Downing brought the ordinance to the council as a public safety issue.

If we let pot become legal in California, It will settle down the people who challenge this law. Also! It will bring in revenue for the city of Susanville. Letting the state of California to have billions in extra income. Road work- Libraries-Schoo ls-College and much more, would have funds to complete what we are always lacking the funds for. Look at what Colorado and Washington already have accomplished. Now Oregon wants in on this . They will become the next state to do so. Watch and see.

Just legalize it and get over it! That will give the cops more time to solve crimes, like the recently murdered Vet!
