Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 — First responders provide aid to a Meadow View School first-grader who was struck by a car in front of the school about 8:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21.
The student’s injuries did not appear to be serious, and she was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center. The Susanville Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
According to a release from Jason Waddell, Susanville School District superintendent, “School and district staff will be working with local emergency response agencies to provide additional information to our students about the importance of pedestrian safety on our city streets and highways. The streets around our schools are often congested with car and foot traffic during the beginning and end of each school day. This incident reminds us all that a heightened awareness by both those on foot and in vehicles is essential in order to make our streets as safe as possible.” Photo by Sam Williams
