BACK FROM MATERNITY LEAVE

VETERAN’S HOST LASER TAG EVENT
The veterans of Lassen County tell us they are proud to sponsor a weekend of “Laser Tag” for the enjoyment of the community. The event will take place at Memorial Hall in Susanville from 3 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 9 and 10. The Laser Tag event will be safe, supervised and full of fun in an air-conditioned environment. Proceeds support Lassen County youth activities. DOYLE DAYS ARE HERE
Friday, Aug. 8 in the evening and Saturday, Aug. 9 you can experience the historic lizard races, assorted vendors and food in Doyle. This year’s theme “Hillbilly Lizards” will feature outhouse races, a parade, drawings and a street dance on Saturday night and assorted events. The local seniors are sponsoring a large swap meet, too. Bring your Dutch oven and share your cooking secrets at Jenkins Realty! Get in the spirit and dress like a hillbilly.
PURSES FOR PETS COMING SOON
The Lassen Humane Society tells us they are gearing up for their annual Purses for Pets fundraiser. All purses donated will be auctioned off and the proceeds go directly to the community for spaying and neutering of local pets. If you have any slightly used blinged out, casual or work purses that need a new home, call the Lassen Humane Society for pick up or drop off at 257-4555 or Kittie at 257-9407.
DINNER AND A SHOW
It's date night at Chuck's Railroad Room in Westwood. They are featuring a Night of Acoustic Music with Doug Sheehy, and daughter Meg Sheehy performing. Charlie and Priscilla Cecil invite everyone to join them for a delicious dinner and music Wednesday, Aug. 13. Reservations are required for table seating, and seating is limited. LMUD AG PUMP TESTING
With the drought causing enough worry and stress for farmers this year, they don’t need to be paying higher than needed electric bills to pump precious water. Lassen Municipal Utility District is continuing their Irrigation Efficiency Program, which provides free efficiency tests for agricultural pumps. There are guidelines and restrictions to this program, for more information, log onto their website at lmud.org, or call your Energy Services Manager at 257-4174. KIDS FEST FOR LOFLIN
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, Susanville Supermarket IGA is once again hosting their Hometown Kids Fest, with all proceeds from the event to benefit the Kolby Loflin cancer fund. Kolby is a Lassen High School student and an IGA employee who is battling leukemia. There will be food vendors, a bounce house, games and more. An extra highlight is the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will once again be in town for the event. All items for the event have been donated, so come by and support this worthy cause.
