A group of friends and family of local 16-year-old boy Tristan Stevens are putting together a Taco Dinner and Raffle to help Tristan and his family. Tristan was diagnosed at age 4 with Urea Cycle Disorder; Arginine Deficiency (very rare form), and he just had a liver transplant. To help the family with costs, there will be a fundraising dinner and raffle from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Elks Lodge in Susanville. If you are unable to attend the event but want to make a donation, there is a bank account set up at Golden One Credit Union in Susanville under Tristan's name. You can also show your support by ordering a "Team Tristan" T-shirt. Contact Tristan's grandmother, Debbie Baehler, at 310-0290 for more information.

It's just about that time again. The Susanville Elks annual Crab Feed! It is set for Jan. 30 and 31 with dinner each night at 6 p.m. Tickets are now on sale at the Lassen County Chamber of Commerce, Margie's Book Nook, The Pardner Farm Supply or at the Elks. Opens in Westwood

Arleen Scott opened Arleen’s Gifts & More on Birch Street in Westwood. The store carries a huge variety of items that includes gifts, antiques, vintage home decorations and re-purposed furnishings, quilting products, jewelry, toys and more. Arleen attended Westwood High School many years ago, moved to Southern California and is excited to return and open this business. She has four grown children and four grandchildren.

Martin and his wife recently moved to Susanville from the Arcata area, where he owned a steakhouse for three years. “I am very excited to be bringing fresh, not frozen, home-style cooked meals at reasonable prices,” according to Martin. They’re open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.   Tuesday through Saturday.
