The arrival of spring means Martin’s Produce and Greenhouse is having their eighth annual Open House and Customer Appreciation Day. This Saturday, April 18, come by and browse their large selection of vegetable and flowering plants, combo planters and don’t forget their hanging baskets and lawn furniture. There will be complimentary refreshments, including delicious homemade donuts.

Martin’s is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They are located at 721-425 Cappezoli Lane, Standish.

Melissa McCoy, owner of Every Bloomin' Thing, has started her gardening classes. This from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11 you can create an amazing indoor garden in a terrarium. There is a fee for this class; it's being taught by Karen Flaherty.

Then from 10 a.m. noon Saturday, April 18, Melissa is teaching a Square Foot Vegetable Gardening class. It's for beginners or advanced. There is no fee for this class. For more information, see their ad in today's paper, or give them a call to sign up at 251-2330.

Diamond Mountain Golf Course is now open for the 2015 season. Golf manager Adam Almand is back this year running the golf course. He tells us the restaurant, Diamond Mountain Bar & Grill will be open beginning Saturday, April 4. Once again this year Doran and Tammi Wheeler will be serving up delicious breakfast and lunch, and their prime rib dinners later in the season. For tee times, give them a call at 257-2520.

May 15 and 16 the Humane Society will be having their annual Spring Yard Sale at the Lassen County Fairgrounds. They are currently accepting donations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Industrial Building at the fairgrounds. With spring just around the corner, this is a great time to clear out your closets and garage and support a worthy cause. Proceeds benefit the Pups on Parole and the Low-Income Spay-Neuter Reimbursement programs. For more information, call 257-4555.

Once again the seventh-grade class at Richmond Elementary School is hosting their annual tri-tip dinner. The dinner is scheduled for from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 in their gym. You can either dine in or carry out. They will also have a silent auction this year. Tickets are now available, or you can buy them at door. They offer individual or family deals. This fundraiser is for their eighth-grade class trip next year.
