ISRAELI FOLK DANCE CLASS

J and J Performing Arts is now hosting a Worship Dance Class. This is Christian worship dance with an Israeli folk dance flavor, and will include traditional Israeli folk dance steps set to a variety of styles of worship music. The classes are for adults and children ages 8 and up when accompanied by an adult. There will be a free trial class from 10 to 11 a.m. Oct. 24. Real estate broker Mel Benny has opened her own office in Westwood next door to the Walker Mansion Inn on Third Street. As a real estate consultant, offering professional assistance in buying or selling, Mel has been in the business since the early 1990s. She previously managed the Century 21 Cottage Realty office in Susanville. She is a member of both Lassen and Plumas Association of Realtors.

MONDAY NIGHT TACO TIME

The Elks Lodge in Susanville is now hosting Monday Night Football and Tacos. They serve tacos beginning at 6 p.m. every Monday night during the football season. Have dinner, then enjoy free popcorn while you watch the game. This year they are giving away a 55-inch big screen TV and a 20-ton wood splitter. Tickets are available each Monday night at the Elks Lodge. See their ad for more information.

CONCERT ON THE GREEN, SEPT. 16

Internationally renowned multi-instrumentalist and artist Mark Growden will be performing at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 at the Walker Mansion Inn in Westwood. Owner Esther Pretti said tickets are on sale for the “Concert on the Green” and include a barbecued hamburger picnic lunch. Growden, who grew up in Westwood, has released several critically acclaimed albums. He has completed many successful U.S. tours, performing at venues such as the Fillmore and Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, and Tonic and The Knitting Factory in New York. He co-founded and co-produces the underground site-specific performance series “Covert” with famed artist John Law of Cacophony Society and Suicide Club fame.
