Betz pleads guilty, accepts 18-month stipulated sentence

Sept. 26, 2006 — If the Lassen County Probation Department and the Lassen County Superior Court Judge Ridgely Lazard agree, a Susanville resident could be sentenced to 18 months in jail for participating in an Internet relationship with an underage girl and bringing her to Susanville.
 

College employees scream discrimination

Sept. 26, 2006 — Nine women, including administrators, faculty members and classified employees of Lassen Community College, have filed a class action complaint alleging “discriminatory and adverse employment acts against them by the college president.”
  

Two Lassen County juveniles arrested on drug charges

Oct. 3, 2006 — Detectives from the Susanville Police Department arrested two Lassen County teenagers, a 15-year-old boy from the Susanville area and a 15-year-old girl, on charges of furnishing a controlled substance.
  

Improvements keep Westwood's ISO rating from jumping to Class 6

Oct. 4, 2006 — The fire insurance classification for Westwood issued by the Insurance Services Office will remain at a Class 5. Following a survey in October 2004 the Westwood Community Services District was informed the ISO rating would jump to a Class 6, resulting in higher insurance premiums unless certain improvements were well under way within a year.
