Investigation being conducted in Leavitt Lake incident
Friday, July 20 — An investigation is being conducted involving an incident that sent three people to the hospital and resulted in the arrest of one man.
According to information provided by Matt McFarland, captain at the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO)at approximately 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, deputies from the LCSO and officers from the California Highway Patrol and the Susanville Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing that occurred on Buffum Lane in Leavitt Lake.Emergency medical resources responded as well.
Upon arrival, CHP officers found 38-year-old James Lee Brown III, laying in the road with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center (BLMC) via ambulance, treated for his injuries and later released.At the residence, deputies were directed to a man, identified as 23-year-old Michael Brandon Spillers, who had multiple lacerations on his head and upper body. He was flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nev. where he was treated for his injuries and released. An infant also sustained minor injuries and was transported to BLMC for treatmentand released.
Joseph Allen Seabourn was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm. He is being held on $200,000 bail.
In addition, the California Department of Rehabilitation also responded and the LCSO expressed its gratitude to all the agencies for the assistance in the investigation.
