Two injured in Highway 139 accident
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), William Hamby, 40, and Curtis Peifer, 46, both of Salem, were traveling southbound on the highway south of Eagle Lake Road in a 1999 Honda.
For reasons yet to be determined, the CHP said Hamby allowed the vehicle to drift off the west side of the road where it collided with a tree.
The CHP said Hamby was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center via ground ambulance where he was treated for minor injuries and released. He was arrested on charges unrelated to the collision.
Peifer was transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nev. via air ambulance.
