Lassen High varsity football wins at homecoming against PV Vikings
Oct. 1, 2011 - Homecoming crowds celebrated an impressive homecoming game at Arnold Field as the Grizzlies challenged Pleasant Valley High School Vikings. When all was said and done the Grizzlies ate up the field with a 34-3 victory. The Vikings didn’t get on the board until late in the third quarter with a field goal.
Both the offense and defense played well and picked up a head of steam going 2-0 in conference play.
Offensively, Cameron Medico had a very strong game with 216 total yards and four touchdowns while Jordan Stokes had 30 yards and a touchdown. Also Austin Marcum and Brian McDonald had receptions for the offense. The offensive line handled the PV defense never allowing a quarterback sack.
On defense, Lassen played their best game of the year as PV only had three scoring chances and came up with only 3 points. Lassen’s defensive line was outstanding, coming up with five sacks and virtually shutting down Pleasant Valley’s rushing attack. Three of the five sacks came late in the fourth quarter shutting down the Vikings chance for a touchdown near the fourth-yard line.
Lassen Varsity is 2-3 while Pleasant Valley is now 3-2. Lassen JV won 43-16 while the Lassen Freshman lost 20-6.
Lassen takes on Red Bluff at home next week, Friday, Oct. 7, at Arnold Field. Varsity begins at 7 p.m.
