Tiffin Earl Cannon
Tiffin Earl Cannon, 83 of Lewistown, Mont., and formerly of Susanville, Calif., passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 at Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center of natural causes.
He was born Jan. 6, 1929 in Susanville to parents Earl T. Cannon and Ruth (Gunter) Cannon.
Tiffin was a descendant of the Benjamin Leavitt Family. He received his schooling in Susanville and then worked on his family’s dairy until he went to Los Angeles to work in a slaughterhouse.
He was happiest while training and riding horses and spent his younger years following the California Rodeo Circuit.
In 1950, he was united in marriage to Tommy Jean Breedlove. They lived in Susanville where he became a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Operating Engineers.
He retired with 50 years of service and started riding forest service land in California and gathering wild cattle. He continued to live in California until the past few years when he moved to Lewistown to be closer to his daughter, Terri Rahn.
Tiffin is survived by sons, Tom (Patty) and Pat (Carrie) Cannon, both of Standish, Calif.; daughters, Terri (Doug) Rahn, of Lewistown, Karyn (Wayne) Gunter, of Hamilton City, Calif. and Janie (Bob) Taylor, of Orland, Calif.; sisters, Gloria Farris and Francis Parker, both of Susanville; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Tiffin E. Cannon will take place at Pine Creek Cemetery in Vina, Calif. at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16. Cloyd Funeral Home, of Lewistown and Hall Brothers Corning Mortuary, of Corning, Calif. are assisting the family.
