Burn ban went into effect July 1

July 2, 2012 — Calfire announced all dooryard burn permits within Lassen, Modoc and Plumas counties were suspended effective midnight last Saturday, June 30.

The burn ban will continue until formally cancelled by Calfire.

Dooryard burn permits will not be issued and dooryard burning is not allowed during this period of time.

I hope Calfire/Susanville Fire Dept/somebody will address the idiots who are now burning their trash in their woodstove!!! They think they are slick by doing it at nite. What is really bad is people have their windows open at nite to cool off and their neighbors burning trash stinks sooooo bad!

Ann is right. Christmas morning is the most polluted day of the year due to idiots burning all of the Wal-Mart packaging. I had never experienced such a thing until moving here. Truly unbelievable. The waste fees are very reasonable and yet the local culture complains and burns instead.
