Memorial services scheduled for smokejumper Luke Sheehy
Update 4 p.m.:Monday, June 17 — All who cared about Luke Sheehy — a Lassen County firefighter and smokejumper who died June 10 from injuries he suffered while fighting a wildfire on the Modoc National Forest — are invited to honor his life at two memorial services this weekend.
Doug Sheehy, Luke’s father, said the family invites everyone who loved and cared about Luke to attend a Day of Honor at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at Walker Mansion in Westwood. Food and refreshments will be provided.
The wildland firefighting community also presents a Memorial Service at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 23 at the Redding Civic Center.
Doug Sheehy said a Luke Sheehy donation account has been opened at U.S. Bank in Susanville for those who would like to make a donation in his son’s memory.
