Westwood activist wants no-kill animal shelter

Nov. 28, 2006 — Friday, Nov. 17, 14 animals were killed at the Lassen County Animal shelter because there was no room; six of them were adoptable, Westwood resident Eileen Spencer told the Board of Supervisors last week.

Nov. 28, 2006 — The medical marijuana identification card program will be back before the Lassen County Board of Supervisors sometime after Jan. 1 due to a San Diego County Superior Court ruling that counties must follow the state’s medical-marijuana laws regardless of federal drug statutes.
  

A Magical Country Christmas celebration coming this Saturday

Nov. 28, 2006 — With the Christmas season right around the corner, the Christmas committee (made up of local area citizens) has been diligently working on an old fashioned Christmas celebration. LMUD workers have been busy this month adding lights to the tree at the top of Main Street, for the celebration. With the help of a lot of volunteers, the tree will be lit for the holiday season this year.

Nov. 28, 2006 — A Susanville man who brought a 16-year-old Napa girl to Susanville as the finale in an Internet relationship failed to appear in Lassen County Superior Court for sentencing on Monday, Nov. 13, despite a stipulated sentence.
