Economic development consultant hired

June 19, 2012 — A highly respected and well-recommended consulting firm will help Lassen County develop a Countywide Economic Development Strategic Plan.

The Lassen County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved awarding a $33,250 contract to Chabin Concepts, of Chico to develop the plan.

Funding for the plan will come from a Community Development Block Grant. The plan should be completed by Sept. 15.

The consultant was selected from a pool of four companies that responded to a request for proposals.

According to a cover letter included with the staff report, “Chabin has prepared over 350 economic development strategies throughout the U.S., mainly in small and mid-sized markets. We have a staff of six professionals who have also implemented and managed economic development programs.”

The consultant has “extensive experience in Northern California including Shasta, Tehama, Butte, Modoc and Plumas counties.”

Chabin employs the Economic Development Administration Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, a four-step process that includes analysis, vision, action plan and evaluation.

The final report will be presented to the board in mid-September for acceptance and submission to obtain the grant funding.

Yes, this is how gov't does it, seen it many times, outsourse another entity do come up with the layoff plan(dirty work), that way they can de-personalize it.
