The road over Mt. Lassen has been cleared of snow and travel is open between the Sulfur Works and Manzanita Lake, Superintendent Dick Boyer of the Lassen National Park announced.

The road has snow banks 15 feet high in some places, and Boyer urged cautious driving for the next few weeks.

90 years ago

Fourteen people met at the county courthouse to discuss forming a organization to help elderly residents at home. Those in need were people who could not leave their homes and perform everyday activities around their houses. This is reportedly the first effort in Lassen County to assist the elderly.

Remember When for May 21, 2013

90 years ago

Arthur Fordham, of Susanville, marched the city streets holding a six-foot long American flag. His march took place during the morning hours for six consecutive days and was to increase awareness of Memorial Day. Some residents joined him in the march and sang patriotic songs as they walked.
