June 18, 2013 — It’s official. Julie Bustamante, Lassen County Clerk/Registrar of Voters, has set a Special Recall Election for the District 5 supervisor’s seat held by Jack Hanson for Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, pursuant to an order issued by the Lassen County Board of Supervisors Tuesday, June 11, to ask the question “Shall Jack Hanson be recalled (removed) from the office of County Board of Supervisors, Fifth District?”

Tuesday, June 18 —  County fire agencies  have been dispatched to a reported vegetation fire across the street from the Honey Lake Motocross Park in Milford.

June 18, 2013 — They’ve been misplaced by research, overlooked in ethnographies, but the Kammutakuta band of Piautes are finally being recognized for their place in history. Friday, June 7, members of the band held an official ceremony on the Smoke Creek Desert. The Ram Horn Springs campground will now share the name, Numu Summuth, which means “people’s gathering.” Although the ceremony was held at the campground, Mace DeLorme said the original sites of the two villages were actually four miles away.
