Nakanishi hospitalized in Truckee

June 17, 2012 — Jon Nakanishi, one of two candidates for Lassen Superior Court judge who advanced to the general election in November, is in stable condition in Tahoe Forest Hospital (TFH) in Truckee.

A hospital spokesperson confirmed Nakanishi’s condition, but she said she could not answer any other questions.

“That’s all the information I can provide,” she said.

One Susanville source reports Nakanishi may have suffered a heart attack while rafting with his family on the Truckee River.

According to prayer requests circulating on the Internet, Nakanishi may have been involved in a rafting accident on the Truckee River and then suffered a heart attack. He reportedly is in a medically induced coma at TFH

Nakanishi, 42, Lassen County’s Family Law Facilitator, faces Lassen County District Attorney Bob Burns in the November general election for the Lassen County Superior Court judge’s seat vacated by the retirement of F. Donald Sokol.

The two candidates garnered the most votes in the primary election earlier this month.

Jon will pull through this. Jon has my vote in November but I have to say Bob Burns would never wish anything like this on Jon and his family. Bob is praying right along with the rest of us for Jon's speedy recovery.

I had an opportunity to meet Mr. Burns last Thursday in his office. I found him to be a very pleasant and caring individual. I am sure Mr. Burns has offered a Prayer for Mr. Nakanishi. We should all say a Prayer for Jon and his family.

Small minded people; I can't believe some people of Lassen County are taking this tragic situation with Jon Nakanishi turning it into a political slander campaign. Now is the time to pull together and support the Nakanishi family, no matter your political views. God bless the Nakanishi family.

In talking to a close friend of the family, Jon did not suffer a heart attack but instead had cardiac arrest after slipping into the water during a rafting trip. Please pray for Jon, his wife, family and friends. My opinion - it is better to wait to publish news until you know the facts...
