Owens flies to D.C. to help secure funding for county schools

Sept. 12, 2006 — As time runs out for a bill that has provided millions in funding for Lassen County schools, district superintendent Bob Owens is planning to participate in the National Forest County and School Coalition's Fly-In in Washington, D.C. later this week to help renew the bill.

School uniforms discussion set for tonight's meeting

Sept. 12, 2006 — At tonight’s Lassen Union High School District’s Board of Trustees meeting, the board will be asked to form a committee to study the implementation of a mandated school uniform.

Sept. 12, 2006 — Lassen County’s Planning Commission voted last week to recommend approval of a parcel map for the Dyer Mountain Four Season Resort with no specific details of planned development.

Nov. 18, 2008 — Henry Bietz, superintendent of Westwood Unified School District and principal of Westwood High, received his award as the 2008 superintendent/principal of the Year during a special banquet ceremony Friday, Nov. 7 held at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego.

DA drops attempted murder, assault charges against Barber

Sept. 19, 2006 — Two local residents, Jamison Lewis Bliss, 22, and Carson Daniel Barber, 20, are free after the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office dropped all charges against them on Wednesday, Sept. 13.
