Calvin Fredrick Winn
Calvin Winn, a resident of Susanville, Calif., passed away at his home, at the age of 45.
Calvin was born June 11, 1966 in Redwood City, Calif.
He was the beloved husband of 23 years to Cheryl Winn, and loving father to Kyle, 18, Tyler, 16 and Olivia, 2.
He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Winn.
Calvin leaves behind his mother, Linda Winn and brother, Mark Winn. He also leaves behind several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Calvin went to Foothill/ Freedom Christian School, and was a graduate of Roseville High School, where his passion was playing varsity football for the Tigers.
After high school, he joined the United States Army.He then married his high school sweetheart and they lived in Sacramento, where they started their family. Calvin was a hard worker and he worked for Reynolds Aluminum for 14 years. He then joined CDCR in 2002, and moved to Susanville with his family, where he was a correctional officer at High Desert State Prison until December 2011.
His greatest passion in life was his family. His family meant the world to him. He was a wonderful husband and a great father. And he absolutely cherished his children, Kyle, Tyler and little “Sissypoo” (Olivia). He also loved his Oakland Raiders — he was by far, their biggest fan — whether rooting his team from the couch or at the coliseum.
He loved to go fishing at Clear Lake, where he had done so since childhood with his grandfather, dad and brother. He passed that love down to his own sons, Kyle and Tyler, taking them on fishing trips every year. He was an avid reader, and would often be reading two to three books at a time. He enjoyed taking Livi for long walks, especially down Main Street to the bookstore. And he loved taking long road trips up the Oregon/Washington coast with his family.
He had a great sense of humor and could always make you laugh, and a fantastic smile that would light up a room.
Calvin, you will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
Memorial services for Calvin were held May 10, 2012 at the Assembly of God Church in Susanville. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up for the Winn children at Bank of America in Susanville.
