Nakanishi remains in stable condition

June 19, 2012 — Officials at Tahoe Forest Hospital report Jon Nakanishi, a candidate for the Lassen County Superior Court seat in the November election, remains in stable condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

According to a story in the Stockton Record, Lodi City Councilman and former state assemblyman Alan Nakanishi, Jon’s father, said his son was in a medically induced coma following a Father’s Day weekend rafting accident on the Truckee River.

The elder Nakanishi said his son fell into the water mid-morning Saturday, June 16.

According to the Stockton Record’s report, “(Jon) Nakanishi was able to swim to shore, but his muscles froze and his heart reportedly stopped. A brother-in-law performed CPR and revived him before he could be transported,” to the hospital.

The elder Nakanishi said doctors unsuccessfully tried to pull his son out of his coma to do some observation.

“It's getting more serious,” Alan Nakanishi said Monday morning. “We are very much in pain, and just praying. We have to be positive and think he will come out of it.”

Very sad for Jon. He is a wonderful man who helped us several times at the Justice Center. Praying for him and hope that he is healing and will be back to be with his family.

Countless Lassen County residents have been helped by Jon, not only did he help you-he ended up with you as a friend, before it was over.
