Sheriff to host open house tonight

Lassen County Sheriff Dean Growdon is inviting the public to come learn about the operation of the sheriff’s office.

An open house is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, May 29, at the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office at 1415 Sheriff Cady Lane. A public meeting will be held at 6 p.m. where Growdon will provide an update on sheriff’s office operations and answer questions presented by the public.

 

Clerk says Hanson recall petition is sufficient

Lassen County District 5 voters will have an opportunity to keep their supervisor in office or replace him with someone else in a recall election this fall.

Lassen County Clerk Julie Bustamante announced Friday, May 24 the petition to recall District 5 Supervisor Jack Hanson is sufficient because the campaign had collected enough valid signatures.

  

Symphony concert changes date due to conflict with graduation

May 28, 2013 — The Susanville Symphony Society announced its Friday, June 7 Pops Concert has been changed to Saturday, June 8 due to a conflict with the Lassen High School graduation. Those with Friday night tickets will be admitted to the Saturday night concert.

May 28, 2013 — Floyd Tibbetts might not be alive today if it weren’t for a yellow lab named Rocky.

Tibbetts enjoys rock hounding, and a few years ago, his wife, Dawn, brought home Rocky so he wouldn’t be alone when he went hiking into remote areas.
