July 13, 2012 — Brian Dahle, Lassen County Supervisor, Council of Rural Counties (RCRC) board member and first assembly district candidate, received a prestigious national award for outstanding public service Friday, July 13.

Dahle accepted the National Association of Counties’ (NACo) Western Interstate Region (WIR) 2012 Dale Sowards Award during NACo’s annual conference in Pittsburgh, Penn.

The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to public lands counties and draws attention to a county official’s accomplishments and the public policies he or she represent.

The award is named after former Conejos County, Colo. Commissioner Dale Sowards, who was instrumental in the creation of WIR, and was a longtime advocate for public land counties.

Elected as a Lassen County supervisor in 1996, Dahle has been active in NACo and WIR, including service as past president of WIR. He has also served as an RCRC board member for more than 12 years.

RCRC is an association of 31 rural counties that advocates before the legislature, congress and other government agencies on behalf of rural issues.

Headquartered in Sacramento, county supervisors comprise RCRC’s governing board. For more information, visit rcrcnet.org.
