June 12, 2012 — The second annual Rock the Wake will be held Saturday, June 16 at Emerson Lake.
Nick McBride, professional wakeboarder, said he has recruited 10 wakeboarders from the pro circuit to show off their skills at the picturesque lake located at the Diamond Mountain Golf Course.
The event will begin at 3 p.m. with a, “surprise kickoff” — you won’t want to miss the surprise.
McBride said the wakeboarders will be on the lake until 8 p.m. this year. Instead of having a band like last year, they will be having a DJ entertain the crowd throughout the day. DJ Boyz Noize, from Susanville will be the DJ at the event.
After the event, there will be an after party at the Lassen Ale House.
All the riders will be there and you can get autographs from them all there.
You must be 21 years or older to go to attend the after part at the Lassen Ale House.
Another after party will follow that after party, starting at 10:30 p.m. at the Willow Room located at the Diamond Mountain Casino and Hotel.
DJ Onslaught will be putting on yet another one of his great performances for the crowd.
McBride said the water is in perfect condition for wakeboarding.
It’s actually higher than last year, and that they had to push the event to an earlier date before they drown out the lake.
McBride said they have an alcohol license and the alcohol will be provided through the Lassen County Farm Bureau.
There will be alcoholic beverages for those in attendance with a state identification.
There also will be food available, courtesy of the Susanville Fire Department.
They will be serving hamburgers and hot dogs, along with chips and a drink.
McBride said they would not be running out of food like they did last year.
The Lassen High School (LHS) field hockey team will be serving snow cones.
The LHS volleyball team will be in charge of the entrance at the event.
A $10 donation is appreciated for the event. All of the proceeds will be going to local charities here in town.
No coolers or outside beverages will be allowed at the event, and McBride said for people to bring their lawnchairs to check out the wakeboarding action in comfort.
Entrance and parking for the event will be at the old clubhouse on Wingfield road.
McBride said he looks forward to the Rock the Wake event, and it should be a great time everyone can enjoy while the weather is still nice.
