Minor quake rattles Chester

June 4, 2012 — A minor earthquake measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale hit the Chester/Lake Almanor area about 8:05 a.m. Sunday, June 3 according to a report from the United States Geological Survey.

The epicenter of the quake was about five miles southeast of Chester and about 31 miles west-southwest of Susanville.

A 3.0 quake is considered minor and rarely causes any damage.
