Historical society, museum host open house

April 30, 2013 — Lassen County’s historical museum provides people the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local history with artifacts, pictures and stories regarding the area’s early days.

New displays have recently been added in the museum and the Lassen Historical Society invites the public to view them during an open house at 5 p.m. Friday, May 3 at 115 N. Weatherlow St.

Man arrested on firearm, trespassing charges

Tuesday, April 30 — Lassen County sheriff deputies arrested a 34-year-old Susanville man on firearm and criminal trespassing charges early this morning, Tuesday, April 30.

According to a press release from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, personnel responded to Tako Nee Street on a report of a break-in. The victim homeowner reported someone unlawfully entered her residence and confronted her, yelling at her. The victim fled her home to another residence and called for law enforcement.

Micronesian and Filipino dancers to perform Tuesday

Micronesian and Filipino dancers mesmerize audiences at all three Susanville School District elementary schools Friday, April 12. The women and girls in pink danced Filipino dances. The woman and girls in white and gold come from Micronesia and danced Islander dances. Fair announces Friday night headliner

April 25, 2013 — The Lassen County Fair has announced country music artist James Otto will be its featured Friday night headliner.
This year's concert is scheduled for Friday, July 19 at the Main Grandstands. For ticket information, call the fair staff at 251-8900.

Rescued bobcats released into wild in Lassen County

April 25, 2013 — After receiving months of care and rehabilitation, Chips the bobcat has been released back into the wild.

Chips and her den mate Sierra, who was rescued from Sierra Army Depot in September, were freed into Lassen County, Saturday, April 19, according to Nan Powers, of the Sierra Wildlife Rescue.

Initial information said the bobcats were taken to Humboldt County.
