She also advised county residents the final tallies may not be completed until the end of the week.

“I will be updating our local results throughout the canvass (audit of election results) which will hopefully be completed by Friday night,” Bustamante said in an email.

“We are expecting a large number of vote-by-mail ballots to be dropped off at the polls by the voters. We will begin processing and counting these first thing Wednesday morning.Please be patient as we can’t rush this process. We still need to verify all the signatures on these envelopes before the ballots can be opened, removed and run through the machines.

“Then we willbegin processing the provisional ballots (which is very time consuming).I assure you that we will be working very hard and as diligently as possible to get to the final results as soon as possible.

“Good luck to all the candidates, and don’t forget to vote if you have not done so already! All ballots must be in our hands or at the polls by 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 5.”
