Taxi service suspended for time being
People who utilize the taxi services may use Dial-A-Ride and call Lassen Rural Bus at 252-7433 for more information.
Lassen County Transportation Planner Dan Douglas said people who have taxi coupons can use them for Dial-A-Ride.
More funding will be requested at the Lassen Transit Service Agency’s Monday, May 14 meeting at 707 Nevada Street. Douglas said he is confident it will be approved, and there is funding for it.
Dial-A-Ride usually operates by appointment only, but Douglas said staff has asked the contractor, Paratransit, to suspend that option right now until the taxi service is up and running again.
According to Douglas, the funding shortage was created because more people are using taxi coupons for $1.75 and the LTSA subsidizes the remaining amount by giving $8.10 to the taxi provider, Barely Enterprises, Inc.
Taxi services are offered through a three party contract between LTSA, Susanville Taxi and Lassen Senior Services.
