Renegades split two with Galena

June 13, 2012 — The Susanville American Legion Renegades baseball team traveled to Galena High School in Reno, Nev. to play a doubleheader against the Galena Silver Sox Sunday, June 3.
The Renegades lost the first game 3-0, despite a strong pitching performance by Joey Beck.
Beck went six innings and gave up one earned run, four hits, two walks and struck out 13.
The Renegades could manage only four hits off a tough Silver Sox pitcher — one each from Beck, Colby Chavez, Garrison Collier and Travis Fuller.
In the second game, Susanville fell behind early and came back to win in extra-innings 6-4.
Ryan Bereznak, of Chester, got the start and went three innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits, four walks and struck out five.
The Renegades scored three in the third when Jaylin Ford was hit by a pitch, stole second and was driven in on a single by Daniel Perry.
Beck then doubled home Perry.
Jake Hatzell of Quincy, singled in Beck to make the score 4-3 in favor of Galena.
Ricky Loudermilk came in to pitch for the Renegades and went five shutout innings to secure the win.
He gave up two hits, one walk and struck out nine.
The Renegades tied it up in the sixth inning when Loudermilk walked and stole second.
He moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Hatzell.
He then scored on a push bunt base hit by Jarrel Cunningham to tie the score at 4-4.
In the top of the eighth inning, Loudermilk again walked and stole second.
Jarrel Cunningham singled to left to drive in the go-ahead run.
Cunningham scored the final run on an error by the second baseman.
Loudermilk had a three-up three-down bottom of the eighth inning to secure the win.
The Renegades got seven hits — one each by Ford, Chavez, Perry, Hatzell, Beck and two by Cunningham.
The Renegades will be having an inter-squad matchup between both of their teams where fans can come out and meet all the players.
The teams will be mixed up of the young and old players on both teams.
They will all be introduced at on the field so everyone can get to know the teams.
This game will be Thursday, June 14, at Memorial Park.
