Uptown hosts Main Street Cruise June 23

June 12, 2012 —Owners of classic cars and motorcycles will descend on Susanville with custom paint, shining chrome and bright whitewalls Saturday, June 23.

Fans should bring sunglasses and sunscreen for a day of fun and sun.

The 22nd annual Main Street Cruise, sponsored by The Historic Uptown Susanville Association and other local businesses, will begin at 2 p.m. when pre-1980s vehicles, motorcycles, rat rods, low riders, imports and other classic autos enter the car show from South Lassen Street.

For the next four hours, spectators can check out all the cool cars, and cruise a street full of food, beverages and sidewalk sales.

At 6 p.m. Main Street will reopen to through traffic and event awards and prizewinners will be announced at 6:30 p.m.

Awards will be given to winners in various categories including Best of Show and People’s Choice.

Lassen County Arts Council (LCAC) will host a beer and wine bar and street dance featuring local band, Rockasaurous, from 2 to 9 p.m. in Pancera Plaza, located at the corner of Main and Gay streets.

Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon will have live music beginning at 9 p.m.

Typically, approximately 100 pre-1980 cars and a number of motorcycles enter the show, which is free to the public.

Car owners travel from as far away as Carson City, Sparks, and Chico to participate in the event.

Entry fees are: $35 for judged cars, $15 for non-judged cars and $20 for motorcycles.

Brings back memories of the good old days in the 50's when we would drag "MAIN", from where the multiplex is now to Milwood. Sure must be nostalgic for many of us.
