THE CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD, LAHONTAN REGION WILL HOLD A PUBLIC MEETING AND CONSIDER AMENDING A NATIONAL POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEM PERMIT FOR SUSANVILLE SANITARY DISTRICT, LASSEN COUNTY
The Water Board will hold a public meeting on July 11 & 12,2012, in South Lake Tahoe at 971 Silver Dollar Ave, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150.
The Susanville Sanitary District (Discharger) operates a wastewater treatment system for the sewage generated in the City of Susanville. The treated wastewater is discharged to the Jensen Slough, a water of the United States. The Discharger is seeking the permit amendment to incorporate a new non-chemical disinfection process utilizing ultraviolet light and associated monitoring changes.
The public meeting will provide the Discharger and the public an opportunity to comment on the proposed NPDES permit amendment only. The remainder of the Permit is not being reopened for changes. The Water Board will accept written comments by July 2, 2012. Anyone interested is invited to attend the meeting and may provide their testimony. Person(s) making presentations should confine statements to the issues pertinent to this permit amendment only. Oral testimony should be brief and may be limited by the Water Board's Chair to allow all interested parties time to be heard. The Water Board will then have the opportunity to adopt alter or reject the proposed order amendment.
The proposed NPDES permit amendment and related documents may be inspected and copied at the Water Board's office at 2501 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe, 96150 between 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon and 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Any questions may be directed to Rob Tucker at the Water Board office, (530) 542-5467.
