Our library serves an important role in our community
Tuesday, April 15, 2014 — The history of libraries in America arguably stretches all the way back to Benjamin Franklin. One of this Founding Father’s greatest contributions to American society is the founding of the Library Company of Philadelphia in 1731 in Boston, America's first lending library and the predecessor of the modern free public library.
Today, as the nation celebrates National Library Week, April 13 through April 19, residents have an opportunity to recognize the contribution our Susanville Library makes to city residents.
