New pool site just may be the solution

Tuesday, July 22, 2014 — Some in Susanville have said a swimming pool ought to be the community’s highest priority.Well, maybe there are other matters that should rise high enough to attract our attention, but for many of our youth who raised thousands of dollars through the Pennies for the Pool project — actually a penny at a time — and other locals who have donated time, effort and money to the cause, it’s a dream that’s yet to be realized.

Now that the Honey Lake Valley Recreation Authority has abandoned the Credence High School site — its top pick for the pool — due to the ownership conflicts between the Susanville Elementary School District and the Lassen Union High School District and the interest of Lassen Community College that leases the property for its fire science program, it’s obviously time for the authority to move on to another site.
