High speed chase ends in Janesville, police department investigates case

Monday, June 25 — The Susanville Police Department (SPD) is investigating a case involving a high-speed chase and possible vehicle theft.

According to a press release from the SPD, at approximately 1:18 a.m. Monday, June 25, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for speed and equipment violations on Second Street near N. FairfieldAvenue when the driver evaded the officer.

A vehicle pursuit ensued through the streets of Susanville and continued into the Janesville area. According to the press release, the pursuit lasted 20 minutes and traversed approximately 25 miles with the vehicle exceeding 100 miles per hour.

According to the press release, the driver of the suspect vehicle eventually lost control of the vehicle and collided with a fence on Main Street in Janesville near the Janesville Grade.

The SPD said the driver and passenger fled on foot and have not been positively identified.

According to the SPD,subsequent investigation has revealed the suspect vehicle was stolen out of Sparks, Nev. and the rear license plate was stolen off another vehicle registered in California.

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol assisted the SPD during the pursuit.

The SPD is encouraging anyone with information about the case to call the 24-hour dispatch line at (530) 257-2171. You can remain anonymous.

If Law Enforcement was to fingerfrint the entire car, They may have a hit. The plate,s were stolen out of California and the car was stolen out of Reno, Sparks area.They could have been traveling to Chico on 36 to 32. There are so many chop shop,s in that area and the thug,s do go through Susanville

i have live here my whole life. there has been more high speed chases in the last 6 months than i heard the last 25 years. time the spd gets more officers with the wonderfull state letting all these low lifes out of prison into our neighborhoods.
