Photographer blends fine art with a commercial touch

July 17, 2012 — A photojournalist needs to become almost invisible in order to catch those moments of surprise; she needs to be able to “hang back and record what’s happening from a photojournalistic point of view,” said photographer Christine Giese whose work will be featured this Friday, July 21 at an opening reception at Artisan Coffee.

Whether photographing empty roads, animals or weddings, Giese seeks out that story.

She said her goal is “To craft unique, energetic photographs that are bursting alive with story.”

Giese began her photography career 10 years ago where she showed her work at The Sierra Galleria in Reno. Since then she has enjoyed her time blending fine art photography with “a touch of commercialism.”

She especially enjoys applying this to weddings.

When not shooting weddings, Giese is out looking for new and interesting locations to photograph.

She moved back to Lassen County in 2003, and for a while, her photography took a back seat to other obligations.

Adam Fike, owner of Artisan Coffee, asked if they could feature her work, and Giese’s love of the art was revived.

Nothing agaisnt the artist. I just want to know why doesn't the Lassen County Times show other artists who have become very success. Is it to much to ask to mention those artists that were born and raised here but have left due to their success or other reasons...
