Test says boy does not have West Nile Virus

Sept. 5, 2006 — Initial test results show a 15-year-old Standish boy does not have West Nile Virus. However, Banner Lassen Medical Center reportedly asked for a second blood sample because the initial sample wasn’t adequate for a full test, according to the boy’s sister, Rita Luallen, of Standish. She said the first sample results were negative on a partial screening.

Owens flies to D.C. to help secure funding for county schools

Sept. 12, 2006 — As time runs out for a bill that has provided millions in funding for Lassen County schools, district superintendent Bob Owens is planning to participate in the National Forest County and School Coalition's Fly-In in Washington, D.C. later this week to help renew the bill.
