New Veterans Service Officer sought

Thursday, April 2, 2015 — Recruitment is under way to fill the veterans service officer position, which will now be appointed by the Lassen County Board of Supervisors.

Interested applicants must be an honorably discharged veteran, and the individual hired will be responsible for determining policy, managing the county veterans service office program, staff, the budget, developing programs and formulates operation objectives.

County Administrative Officer Richard Egan estimated it could take 60 days to fill the position by the time they are able to interview and select someone.

The former Veterans Service Officer vacated the position last fall.

During its Tuesday, March 24 meeting, the supervisors approved removing the position from the Health and Social Services Department, as well as increasing the salary from a range 16 to range a 22 department head.
