Lassen High wrestlers compete in Sierra Nevada Classic

Jan. 3 — Christmas break was good to the Lassen High School wrestling team. The Grizzlies traveled to the Reno Livestock Event Center on Dec. 27 and 28, 2013 to compete in the Sierra Nevada Classic tournament and placed 49th out of 83 teams.
Nine wrestlers from Lassen High School competed and two, Kenny Jones and Skyler Ingwerson, placed.
The tournament saw wrestling teams from six western states — California, Nevada, Idaho, Washington, New Mexico and Oregon.
Ingwerson wrestled in the 145-pound weight division, which included 77 wrestlers. He went 4-for-3 and took eighth place.
Jones competed in the 126-pound weight division, which had 62 wrestlers. He went 6-for-1 and took third place.
In the 106-pound weight bracket, Patrick McConnell went 0-for-2. Levi Prater went 1-for-2 in the 126-pound weight class.
Hunter Ingwerson, in the 132-pound weight division, went 0-for-2. In the 152-pound weight class, Noah Lindeman went 1-for-2. Tommy Eigin went 1-for-2 in the 160-pound weight division Jake Jones went 0-for-2 in the 170-pound weight bracket and heavyweight Willis Melton went 0-for-2.
The Grizzlies will be hosting the Lassen Tournament on Friday, Jan. 10 and Saturday, Jan. 11.
