Task force finds marijuana gardens having street value of $28 million
On Monday, Sept. 25 the task force flew the mission specifically to look for marijuana gardens with the help of P.J. Helicopters out of Red Bluff, Calif.
During the first day of the recon mission, the task force observed a large marijuana garden located in the Horse Creek area, which is just south of the Little Valley.
On Tuesday, Sept. 26 the task force with the assistance of the Lassen County/Susanville Police Department Interagency SWAT Team, Bureau of Land Management, Campaign Against Marijuana Plantations and P.J. Helicopters secured and dismantled the marijuana garden.
No suspects were found in the garden at the time of entry. A total of 4,138 marijuana plants and 16 pounds of processed marijuana ready for sales were seized from the garden.
Also on Tuesday, the task force, assisted by CAMP. and P.J. Helicopters, discovered a second marijuana garden in the Pit River Canyon area, which is approximately one mile south from where the first marijuana garden was found.
On Wednesday, Sept. 27, task force, by the SWAT team, BLM, Shasta County Marijuana Eradication Team, U. S. Forest Service, California Highway Patrol and Redding Air secured and dismantled the marijuana garden.
No suspects were found in the garden at time of entry. A total of 3,978 marijuana plants and 300 pounds of processed marijuana ready for sales were seized from the garden.
The street value of both gardens reached approximately $27,948,000.
The funds used to fly the mission were supplied by the Forest Service through a grant given to the task force for the purpose of discovering marijuana gardens in Lassen County.
