Susanville needs a new slogan
After 106 years, city staff said it is time to permanently retire the current slogan “The Land of the Never Sweats” because it no longer reflects the positive direction Susanville is moving.
Therefore, anyone with a slogan idea or list of slogans has until Wednesday, Jan. 31 to submit what Mayor Pro Tem Rocky Joy said is “something great and progressive.”
At the Wednesday, Jan. 3 City Council meeting, Joy said the City Committee for Economic Development will review the submissions and then make a recommendation to the council for approval.
“We have already received some excellent slogans,” he added.
The winner will receive a gift.
Submission should be sent in writing to Sherry Lindsey at 66 North Lassen St., Susanville, CA 96130.
The CCED meets at noon the last Thursday of the month in council chambers. The public is invited.
Joy told the council that the committee is making progress in putting together welcome packets for new correctional officers and on brochures promoting the city.
In other business at its Nov, 28 meeting the CCED accepted the resignation of Rick Stewart and recommended the city council appoint Bill Noonberg and Barbara France to the committee. The council approved the recommendation at its Wednesday, Dec. 6 meeting.
The committee plans to meet at noon, Thursday, Jan. 25.
