Sports Briefs for the week of June 19th.
A slowpitch softball tournament will be held in conjunction with the 14th Annual Paul Bunyan Mountain and Blues Festival on Saturday, July 7 in Westwood.
The tournament begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday and concludes Sunday, July 8 with an awards ceremony. Only wooden bats will be used.
Trophies will be given to the first thrid-place teams. The winning team and all-tournament pplayers will receive T-shirts.

GIRLS TO HOST SOFTBALL TOURNEY
Lassen Youth Fastpitch Softball will host the District Junior Olympic Tournament Saturday-Sunday, June 23-24 at Diamond View School and Riverside Park in Susanville.
As many as 32 teams, mostly from northern Nevada, will compete. Divisions include U-16 through U-10.

POP WARNER SIGN-UPS SET
Registration for the upcoming Lassen Pop Warner Football season has been scheduled for this month.
Players and cheerleaders can register from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 16 at Lassen High School. Final player registration will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23 at the same location.
WESTWOOD GOLFER MAKES ALL-LEAGUE
Ronnie Theobald starred for Westwood High School's golf team this year, finishing third in the overall league standings.
Theobald, a junior, reportedly shot in the low-80s throughout the year on courses, including Greaegle Meadows and Lake Almanor West.
COLLEGE TO HOLD CAMPS
Lassen College is holding two athletic camps for children this summer.
In the Monday-Thursday, June 11-28 camp for ages five through nine, participants will be instructed on the fundamentals of track and field, softball, baseball, bowling, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, soccer and given a national fitness test.
In the Monday, June 25 - Friday, July 6 camp for ages nine through 13, participants will be schooled on the finer points about soccer, bowling, basketball, volleyball, softball and baseball.

LASSEN, PLUMAS PLAYERS MAKE LIONS TEAMS
Lassen High School's Jason McMullen joins four Plumas County high school senior football players on the rosters for the Lions Northern California All-Star Football Game.
McMullen, last season's team MVP and an All-Northern Section selection at offensive guard, will suit up for the north team, while Portola linebacker Justin Ward, Greenville wide receiver Nathaniel Bond, Chester fullback Gage Wade and Quincy defensive end Cliff Conover will play for the south.
McMullen's brother, Brandon, played in the Lions game in 1996.

BASKETBALL CAMP SCHEDULED
Camp Grizz, basketball camps for boys and girls, will be held at Lassen High School this summer.
A camp for eight through 11 year olds is set for Monday, June 25 through Thursday, June 28. A camp for 12 through 14 year olds is scheduled for Monday, July 2 through Thursday, July 5.
The cost is $30 per child for each camp and instruction will be headed by Lassen High School girls' basketball head coach Dorinda Shaffer. Register on the first day of each camp, or mail a check payable to the high school to Lassen Camps, 1110 Main St., Susanville, 96130.

SUMMER CAMPS SLATED AT UNR
Football, volleyball and basketball camps will be held at University of Nevada-Reno this summer.
The non-contact football camp is set for Monday-Thursday, June 25-28. Each session will last from 9 a.m. to noon each day. UNR head football coach Chris Tormey, his staff and former players will instruct the camp. The cost is $85 per person. Call 775-784-4062 to register.
Volleyball camps are scheduled for Monday-Friday, June 11-15 and Friday-Sunday, July 27-29. UNR volleyball coach Devin Scruggs will head the instruction. Call 775-784-4046 for more information.

GET A FISH LICENSE VIA INTERNET
Visit California Department of Fish and Game's new E-License web site to purchase that annual sport fishing license.
The new E-License web site was launched in January, along with an expanded array of online information and state services, and is included in the new "My California" web portal located at www.ca.gov. The E-License website is also accessible at www.dfg.ca.gov.
"We're thrilled to offer this site and we plan to continue to make it easier for the public to access our services," said DFG Director Robert C. Hight.
Once the easy online transaction is complete, anglers will receive their license in the mail within seven days. Those wishing to purchase a license for immediate use are still encouraged to drop by their nearest authorized license agent. A search engine to find a license agent in a particular location is available on the E-License site.
JOIN MODOC HORSEMEN
Applications are being accepted for the Modoc Horseman's Association of Alturas.
Membership fees for 2001 are $20 for a family, $15 for singles and 415 for juniors. Members will be able to participate in all five of the association's shows at a lower fee than non-members.
All events will be held at the Junior Livestock Showgrounds in Alturas.
