Carl Everett Brown
Carl Brown, 57, of Chico passed away on Dec. 15, 2009 in Chico.
He was born on March 4, 1952 to Fletcher and Patricia Brown of Chico and graduated from Pleasant Valley High School. He spent his life as a cattle rancher in Chico and Indian Valley and was most recently working in construction for McWilliams Asphalt. He loved doing anything outdoors and spending time with good friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Carly Brown, and granddaughter, Mae Musachia, of Wendel; son, Samuel Brown, and ex-wife, Pam Brown, of Crescent Mills; and step-daughter, Sarah Raganit, of Taylorsville.
A memorial will be held at 11 on Jan. 9, 2010 at Taylorsville Methodist Church in Taylorsville, Calif., followed by a reception at Taylorsville Tavern.

In loving memory of our mother, grandmother and sister, Mary (Polly) Algerena Seeley who passed away on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 in Washington Terrace, Utah. Mary was born in Catoosa, Okla., to Zachariah and Edna O’Neal Langley.
She was born on Nov. 11, 1925. She moved to Susanville in 1938. She graduated from Lassen High School in 1943.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Rocky Pate and William (Billy) Pate, and three siblings, John Langley, Lena Mae Yekel, and Bertie Hopkins.
She is survived by three children; Zachariah Pennington, Dianna (Al) McCreary and Margaret (Gary) Bailey. She is also survived by her siblings Raymond, Jim (Barbara), Virginia (Robert) Middleton, Elaine (Keith) Bailey, she had 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
She will be missed, but we know she was ready to meet her Lord Jesus Christ.
Cremation is under the direction of Aaron’s Mortuary and Crematory, 1600 Washington Blvd., Utah.

Shirley Ruth Templeton Workman
Shirley Ruth Templeton Workman passed away on Dec. 11, 2009 at Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville after a brief illness.
Shirley was born in Westwood in 1936 to Louie and Hazel Templeton, where Louie was employed at the mill as an electrician. The family later moved to Susanville, where Louie started his own business, Templeton’s Electric.
Shirley graduated from Lassen Union High School in 1954, and later received her teaching credential from Chico State. She taught school for several years in Paradise.
She married Leslie Wade Workman Sr. (Toby) in Susanville in 1957. The Couple had two children, and the family lived in Chico, Corning, and Santa Maria. Shirley returned to Susanville in 1990, and lived there the rest of her life.
Shirley was gifted needleworker who especially loved cross stitch and bobbin lace. She was active in the Espiscoal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Toby.
She is survived by her son Wade; daughter Lee Ann; brothers Louie Jr., Spencer and Vern; sisters-in-law Georgia and Rhonda, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Shirley’s warmth, compassion, humor and intelligence will be deeply missed by all her family.
The family wishes to express their thank to everyone at Renown Medical Center, Banner Lassen Medical Center, and Country Villa Riverview.
In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. There will be a memorial service at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Susanville, with a private graveside service at a later date.
Larry Ronald Gorbet, Sr.
Larry Ronald Gorbet, Sr. died Friday evening, Dec. 11, 2009 at his residence in Chester, Calif., following a valiant battle with kidney failure. His loving family was at his side.
He was born Oct. 4, 1948 to Forrest and Clara (Shafer) Gorbet in Westwood, Calif.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca; sons Robert, of Longview, Wash., Larry, Jr., of Chester, Calif.; daughter Mary Ann Franklin, of Poolview, Texas; brother Ricky Gorbet, of Oroville, Calif.; sister Lorena Rose Gorbet, of Greenville, Calif.; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
