March 2, 2010 — This week’s edition of the paper is jam-packed with all kinds of interesting items, from the ramping up of local school sports in the playoffs to a heated letters to the editor section, there are a number of sections designed to peak the reader’s interest this week.
Every week we try to bring the most relevant news from around the county to our readers, and sometimes there is an overabundance of news to bring. Sometimes we like to try out new things as well, such as this week’s edition of the top five symphony reviews from Lassen High School’s honors English program.
We combed through several reviews, written by students who attended the Susanville Symphony Orchestra’s presentation of “The Student and the Master II.” While all of the students wrote honest reviews of the symphony’s performance, the paper only has so much space in it, so there can only be a handful of winners. The winners were picked through a completely unbiased selection process.
As for our news content, it helps to remember that our writers strive to provide the most information about our area that’s fit to print. Our staff lives and works in this county too, and news affects us just as much as it affects the average reader. If local student athletes are performing well, we feel their success. If local politicians are making choices we find questionable, we are the first ones trying to find out the rhyme behind the reason.
In times of such uncertainty, it’s important to stay informed about the area in which you live, and the level of cooperation the paper has with the community ensures the most important information is rising to the top. We value your opinions and encourage you to write us letters, just as long as you are willing to do so respectfully.
