Henry F. Melanson
Henry F. Melanson
Long-time Westwood resident, Henry Melanson, 69, passed away peacefully with his wife of 41 years, Ginny, son Mark and friend Peggy at his side on Sunday morning, May 23, 2010, at his residence following a brief battle with brain cancer.
Born to Freeman and Elsa in Lynn, Mass., on June 20, 1940, Henry, age 12, moved with his family to Vista, Calif., where he attended high school and a year of college. It was there that he met his wife Ginny. The family, including son, Mark, moved to Westwood in 1978. Henry was employed at Montgomery Wards store and at Tires Plus Appliance store in Susanville. In later years, Henry had his own lawn care business.
Henry loved people as much as people loved Henry. He loved classical music, camping, working around the house but was always ready to cut a load of fire wood with his friend Garry. When visiting with him, he always had an interesting story to tell.
Henry was always helping others and treated them respectfully. He had recently given his heart to the Lord.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his loving wife, Ginny; son Mark; sister Elsa and husband Henry, of St. Louis Mo., brothers-in-law, Jerry and wife Myrna; and Kurt and wife Debbie along with numerous friends.
Following cremation at Fehrman Crematory, located in Quincy, Calif., a gathering of Henry’s friends will be held at a later date. An opportunity to express your condolences along with signing the memorial guest register is available online at fehrmanmortuary.com.
