It's Public Power Week Oct. 3-9. In honor of this, Lassen MUD is having a celebration with a free barbeque this Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their Roop Street location. The first 50 customers will receive energy efficient kits plus you can sign up to win a Convectair electric heater. Stop in to meet the Lassen MUD staff and board members.
RAILS TO TRAILS FESTIVALThis Saturday, Oct. 9 is the 18th annual Rails to Trails Festival in Susanville. Lassen Land & Trails Trust is sponsoring the event once again this year. It's a very popular event and proven venue for local crafters. This year's festival will be held at the same time as the Bizz Johnson Trial Marathon, which attracts more than 800 people. They still have room for a few more crafters, food vendors, chili cookers and salsa makers. If you would like to participate in any of these activities, stop by the Historic Railroad Depot on Richmond Road. It's a great fun way to spend a Saturday.
MEADERY OPEN HOUSE
Mountain Meadows Mead owners Ron Lunder and Peggy Fulder, announce they will be open to the public during Westwood's fun Fall Festival from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16. The Westwood area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the festival with food and beverage booths, a bounce house, pumpkin rolling, and harvest vendor booths in the parking lot of the Visitor's Center, located at Third and Ash streets in Westwood. The Meadery, established in 1995, is offering tours and tastings of its award-winning meads, including tastes of its new product, Midnight Mead Honey Liqueur, during the festival.
IT'S A GIRL!
Lorin and Judy Galassi, owners of Papa Murphy's in Susanville just became grandparents once again. Their daughter just had her second child, a little girl named Marin. Of course Lorin and Judy are so excited about their new little granddaughter. Congratulations to all!

Attention to all the ghost and goblins making their Halloween plans. According to David Teeter, this years uptown Trick-or-Treating sponsored by the Historic Uptown Susanville Association, will be held on Friday, Oct. 29.
