Vida Narcissus Dowden
Vida Narcissus Dowden, 83, died Jan. 31, 2011 at Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville, Calif. She was born on Feb. 17, 1927 in Isabelle, S.D.
Vida is survived by daughter Martha Ausmus, of Susanville; sons, David and wife Karen Dowden, of Susanville; Chester and wife Donnita Dowden, of Roseburg, Ore.; Darrell and wife Emley Dowden, of Alabama; brother Ronald and wife Connie Ehly, of Azalea, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Gail Gene Givens, 64, formerly of Susanville, died in Grants Pass, Ore. Jan. 21, 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Carol; daughter Rebecca; and mother-in-law Margaret Weld, who shares their home. He is also survived by brothers Tom and Randy; and sister Linda, all of Susanville.
Gail was preceded in death by his parents, longtime Susanville residents Ivan and Dorothy Givens.
A celebration of life was held on Feb. 5 in Grants Pass. Charitable donations in his name can be made to the Victory Junction Gang.
