Doyle Wayne Dunham
Wayne Dunham went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Tahoe Pacific Hospital in Reno, Nev. Wayne was born in Bakersfield, Calif. and had made his home in Standish, Calif. for 30 years.

Wayne fought a hard battle of Lou Gehrig’s Disease. He wanted to live every moment he had left to be with his family and friends. Wayne’s enjoyment in life was get-togethers with his family and friends and wanted everyone to enjoy themselves. He loved to call his mom and pick on her, it made his day and hers. His other enjoyment was having a beautiful yard and home.

Wayne worked hard all of his life. He was a log truck driver for Sierra Pacific Industries, worked at United Rental, and was a tug driver at High Desert State Prison.

Wayne adored his daughters, Laura Solano and Shannon Dunham and their children, Derick, Kyle and Tyler Solano and Desiree and Kailey Galias, all of Reno, Nev. In addition to his loving wife, who cherished him, Shirley, and his children and grandchildren, he is survived by his mother Ila Faye Dunham, of Susanville; his sisters and brother-in-law, Sherry and Harold Barton, of Idaho; Darlene and Kent Bauer; Carol and Ray Thompson, both of Susanville; Delores Dunham, of Elko, Nev. and brother Dale Dunham and his wife Sandy, of Oregon. He is also survived by stepsons Jason Marceaux and grandson Jason Jr., of Suanville and Chris Lewis and wife Heather with children Jacob, John and Nicholas, of Thomasville, N.C. Wayne also loved his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Grady Dunham.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ruby Sprotte
“Ruby” Ruth Sprotte was born in Tulsa, Okla., July 4, 1923. She passed away on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 in Susanville, Calif. at the age of 87 from heart failure.

Ruby was a reconciler for Lockheed Martin Corp. for more than 30 years. An avid gardener, she hybridized roses and was president and editor for the Rose Society in San Fernando, Calif. She won numerous trophies and awards for her arrangements. She loved to play the organ and could crochet like a machine.

Upon her retirement Ruby decided to move to Susanville to be closer to her youngest daughter Gloria and her family. She made numerous friends in Susanville enjoying trips to Reno with all her gal pals.

Ruby is survived by her doggie Ginger; daughter Sylvia, of San Berdo; son and daughter-in-law Randy and Debra, of Simi Valley; daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Bill, of Susanville; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law Alma and Glenn, of Malibu, and many nieces and her nephew.

Ruby was preceded in death by her daughter Pamela; mother Mayme; father Roy; brother Bud and nieces Cody and Jody.
She will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Park San Fernando, on March 11, 2011.

Walter Whitney Vogan
Walter Vogan, a longtime resident of Chester, passed away on March 6, 2011, at the age of 98 of natural causes. Born in Idaho on Sept. 15, 1912, Walter came to California in a covered wagon during his first week of life. His family settled in Yuba City and he graduated from Sutter High School.

Walter worked at the Walker Copper Mine in 1939, prior to joining the U.S. Army in World War II. After the war, he worked as a retail clerk in Vallejo, and married Pauline Geitgey in 1949. In 1956 they moved to Chester and opened the D & L Laundromat. He worked at Locatell’s Grocery Store in Chester for a short time. Walter was a construction carpenter by trade and worked on many local projects such as the Belden Penstocks, Lassen College, Herlong, Quincy Safeway, Antelope Dam and Chester Diversion Dam.
After retiring at 65, he and Pauline began snowbirding and spending the winter months in Southern Arizona. He loved to garden, gold mining near Seneca at the Boomerang Mine, RV travel and watching sports on TV. Walter and Pauline organized a Good Sam RV Chapter (“Sierra Sams”) in Chester and enjoyed planning campouts. They were married for 54 years.
In his later years, he lived in Yuma, Ariz. and then in Susanville at Eagle Lake Village.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife Pauline in 2003. He is survived by his sons Dennis Vogan, of Ketchikan, Alaska; and Larry and Julie Vogan, of Susanville.

A private service will be held at the Chester Cemetery for family only.

Waymon Lewis White
Waymon (Red) Lewis White, a resident of Janesville, died March 5, 2011 at 9 p.m. Red was born in Arkansas July 26, 1941 to Wood and Audry White. He had three brothers, John, Glen and Curtis White and two sisters Melba and Linda White. He is a 1959 Graduate of Lassen high. Shortly after, he started a family of his own with wife Billie White, who passed March 28, 2004. Together they had two daughters Donell and Shellie White and a son Skeeter White. They also had numerous grandchildren and a great-grandson whom he loved very much.

Red made a lifetime career working for PG&E as a lineman in general construction, making lifelong friends Jack Hunsman, Rich Tartyville, Gale Effenbeck and many more.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball and golf. He also enjoyed talking to friends and family at the T and A Lounge in his spare time.

Frank Neely
Frank Neely, 23, died March 8, 2011 in Janesville, Calif. He was born to Lena and Fred Neely, on June 15, 1987 in Chester, Calif.
Frank is survived by his parents; brother and sister-in-law Hank and Dana Neely, of Susanville, Calif; and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Diamond Crest Cemetery.

Ruby Merle Hall
Ruby Merle Hall, 77, died at her home in Sparks, Nev. March 3, 2011. She was born Oct. 27, 1933 in Big Springs, Texas.

She went to Lassen High School and worked at Sierra Army Depot.
She was preceded in death by her husband Maurice G. Hall.

She is survived by her children Teresa Hall, of Roseville, Calif., Karen Machin, of Graeagle, Calif., Jeanne Kennedy, of Portola, Calif. and Mike Hall, of Reno, Nev.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 14 at Immaculate Conception Church in Sparks, Nev.
