Henri A. Sanchez
Henri A. Sanchez was born Nov. 27, 1921 in Ukiah, Calif. to Marie and Antoine Sanchez. He passed away on July 5, 2011 in Susanville, Calif.
He was preceded in death by both his parents; his first wife Pearl; four brothers Francis, Dan, Maurice and Rene; one sister Pauline; two stepchildren and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Faye; children Richard (wife Cindy), Ronald (wife Debbie) and LaNina Covello; four stepchildren, 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Henri moved to Susanville in 1934 where he graduated from Lassen High School in 1939, during which time he participated in basketball, baseball, football, track and Black L among other activities, and graduated from Lassen Junior College in 1941. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp. on July 1, 1944 and was honorably discharged on June 29, 1946. For his service he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Henri had one occupation during his lifetime, working with his father and brothers as owner/operators of the Model Laundry. The business as Model Laundry was established in 1952 and the family ran it until it was sold in 1982.
Throughout Henri’s life he was extremely involved in the community in which he lived. Beginning with the youth of the community in Little League, Babe Ruth, Bobby Sox and American Legion Baseball, as well as supporting the Livestock Auction. He was a member of the local Elks Lodge for more than 50 years. He held many posts within the American Legion, rising as high as Vice Commander of the State for Area 1. He also held many posts in the VFW including District Commander.
Henri will be dearly missed by all whose lives he has touched including his family, friends and associates. He is just as loved and respected in death as he was during his long and full life. He leaves a legacy of honor and integrity. Viewing was from 5 to 6 p.m., Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Walton’s Chapel. Rosary was said at 7 p.m., Sunday, July 10 at the Sacred Heart Church with Mass held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 11 at Sacred Heart Church with burial at Lassen Cemetery following the Mass.
Edward Jay Trent
Edward lost his year-long battle with surgical complications and pulmonary fibrosis, passing quietly with his family present on June 4, 2011.
He was a loving husband, leaving behind wife Susan P. Trent of 55 years and family man, father of four daughters, Karen Sue Short and Kimberly Jean Trent-Malson, both of Redding, Kathrine Jo Foss of Lancaster, Calif. and Kristen Lee Higginson, of Rio Linda, Calif. He also left behind 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Ed was born May 30, 1934 in Logan County, W.V., second son of Jesse J. and Josephine Edith Trent. He is survived by his brother, Harry Trent and sister, Deborah Bowen, both of Florida. He was preceded in death by both parents and sister Susan Bircher.
Ed was active in the Boy Scout of America and one of the first in West Virginia to receive the rank of Eagle Scout. Ed joined the USAF and served his country for four years during the Korean War. Ed met his wife, Susan Phillips, while stationed in Missouri prior to being assigned to Japan. They were married in New York shortly after his honorable discharge from the USAF.
He was a pioneer in the electronics industry which brought the newly married couple out to Southern California in 1956. Among his accomplishments was the Lunar Roving Vehicle currently parked on the moon and the first satellite that went into orbit and is still orbiting the earth today.
His employment brought Ed and his family to Redding in 1972. He moved to Susanville in the 1980s while working for Citizen's Utilities where he was District Manager. Ed became a member of the Elks Lodge and member and president of the local Rotary Chapter earning a lifetime membership. One of his projects with the Rotary was helping build the Ronald McDonald House Camp at Eagle Lake, a camp for families and children with disabilities and victims of abuse. Also working with the Rotary and Elks, he championed for the wild horses through BLM for a horse sanctuary in the Litchfield area.
While in semi-retirement, he started Trent Appraisal Service doing residential appraisals in northern California. Working with the SBA and FEMA, he performed appraisal work at numerous disasters throughout the country.
A celebration of Ed's life will be held at 11 a.m. on July 15, 2011 at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo at the new indoor chapel. A potluck reception will follow at the Trent family home in Redding. Directions to the home will be available at the service.

Harold Wayne Hitchcock
Born Feb. 27, 1951, in Pitcher, Okla., Harold Wayne Hitchcock died June 28, 2011, in Chester.
He is survived by his sister Jane George, daughters Marilyn and Rebecca, son Douglas and eight grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Alice.

Sharron Lea Weaver
Sharron Lea Weaver, 72, died July 1, 2011 in Janesville, Calif. She was born April 23, 1939 in Long Beach, Calif.
Sharron is survived by sons Michael and Connie Weaver, of Gilbert, Ariz., Bradley Sr. and Andrea Weaver, of Wichita, Kan.; daughters Denise and Paul Hartman Sr., of Janesville, Michele and David Salas, of Susanville; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Rory Colin McGuire
Rory McGuire, 20, was born in Chico, Calif. on Sept. 20, 1990 and dies on Monday, July 4, 2011 in Reno, Nev.
A viewing and a Celebration of Life service for Rory will be held at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home from 11-1 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011.
