Champions named in Adult Slowpitch League
Aug. 24, 2011 — The Adult Slowpitch League came to a close after double elimination playoffs decided the top spot in the men’s, women’s and co-ed teams.
The playoffs began Monday, July 25, with 21 teams battling it out for the top spot in the league at Riverside Park in Susanville.
The women’s championship game was played Monday, Aug. 1, and Go Hard or Go Home took out T Kat for the championship spot.
Toni Aguilar, Rietta Amador, Deannis Bailey, Karli Barger, Vera Campa, Natalie Cook, Cassie Dunn, Ashley Dyers, Heather Fackrell, Lovetta Gower, Terri Loflin, Blayne Mallery, Teega Nez, Amanda Scott, Dana Soares, Kathy Steele, Michelle Vargas, Michelle Wolf and Jenny Wong made up the winning Go Hard or Go Home team.
The co-ed game found Off Constantly snagging the spot Wednesday, Aug. 3.
Toni Aguilar, Norman Amador, Rietta Amador, Tony Campa, Vera Campa, Austin Chedwick, Natalie Cook, Stacy Dixon, Curtis Dixon, Ashley Dyer, Fabian Gonzales, Lovetta Gower, Kyle Harlan, Blayne Mallery, Randy Marshall, Robbie Robles, Amanda Scott, Ashley Standiford and Kathy Steele owned the co-ed teams as Off Constantly.
The men’s championship game found team Snafu going up against the Awesome Opossums with Snafu claiming the victory.
Brandon Blosser, Matt Burton, Austin Chedwick, Ryan Chedwick, Alan Holmes, Allen Iverson, Jake Larsen, Caleb McCoy, Gary McCoy, Brian Moore, Jason Moss, Brad Pon, Neil ReBell, Johnny Steele, Brian Stevens, Casey Williams and Gary Zinn earned the first place spot for the men’s slowpitch team.
The men’s slowpitch teams didn’t take a break after the playoff tournament, participating in a weekend tournament following the conclusion of the league. All proceeds from the weekend tournament went to the Lassen High baseball boosters.
In her first year as league president, Julie Schmidt said she enjoyed the season and is looking forward to doing it again next year.
